Real Wedding at Casa Del Mar {Yvonne & Shunsuke}

The wedding of Yvonne and Shunsuke (Sam) was an event from a different era. Located at Hotel Casa Del Mar in Santa Monica, the beautiful boutique hotel provided an ambiance of classic 1940’s elegance. With the Pacific Ocean and sandy beach as the background, the wedding and reception were enjoyed with large windows displaying the break taking view outside. The Casa del Mar was the perfect site to have a beach-ie fun feel, but still maintain class and style, making for an unforgettable treasured event.

We enjoyed helping Yvonne and Shunsuke (Sam) have a memorable wedding day. They were a sweet couple and it was noticeable to all just how in love they are. Yvonne has provided in her own words the events that lead up to that unforgettable day, the actual day her life changed, and what married life has been like thus far.

The Proposal:
“Sam took me on this extravagant week long trip up the coast to Napa in September 2009. Unbeknown to me, he had planned to propose to me during this trip, considering that he has told me not to expect a ring because of the current state of the economy. On the 21st of September, we took a drive up Oakville Road to the Diamond Oaks Winery. This winery sits atop a hill overlooking the vineyards. It was a gorgeous and sunny September day, and perfect for a picnic. We opened a bottle of wine and had venison pate when Sam asked me to take something out of the picnic basket. It was wrapped in a yellow envelope, courtesy of his office, and inside the envelope was a photobook that he had made using all the pictures that we had gathered throughout our years together. Inside, he wrote the most romantic thing a girl can ever dream of and when I finally got to the ending, he dropped down on one knee and asked me to marry him.”

The Wedding Day:
“Our wedding day was fun. It went by without a hitch. It was the most amazing day of our lives as we were able to commit to each other, surrounded by people whom we love and who loves us. Although we almost tipped the sand glass over during the ceremony, it was so uniquely us. Watching our fathers groove to the music with styles only popular in the 60s made the day even better. It was special to honor our families as we combined two families of different backgrounds and culture into one big family. Nothing could make that day better than it had been.”

The Married Life:
“Married life has been great! Much has changed since we got married even though we had lived together for 4 years prior before getting married. Our level of commitment to each other has gotten stronger and I am grateful everyday for Shunsuke (Sam), who has not failed to show and live the promises that he made to me the day we got married.”

Thank you Yvonne and Shunsuke for letting the Skybox team share this special day!
