Real Wedding: Katie & Billy
Just how everyone shares a birthday with someone else in the world, it makes sense that it’s just as true for weddings. During our honeymoon, I met my wedding twin! Katie and Billy got married on September 4th this year as well. We started talking about our happy day and realized though our weddings were in different locations, with different people, there was still several similarities besides the date. We shared our day with those we loved most, included family traditions, and were extremely excited to start our life with the one we love. Katie has provided us details leading up to the big day and there time together since.
The Proposal: April 10, 2009
“Billy had the Friday before Easter off from work so I thought he’d just sleep in and relax. When I got home from work, he handed me a note saying that he had planned an Easter egg hunt for me. I had been sick that week, so I thought he was just trying to cheer me up. So I started the hunt, and each egg had a clue that led to the next egg and some candy. Each clue was based on something important in our relationship. The last egg was in my jewelry box, and it was a giant decoy. I opened it and found candy and a final clue. It said that I had to profess my love for Billy in order to receive my prize. So I did, and Billy told me to close my eyes. When I opened them, he was on one knee with the ring and he asked me to marry him. My initial response was, “Are you serious?!” and then, of course, Yes!”
Wedding Day: September 4, 2010
“Our wedding was full of love, fun, and family. We’ve lived in Dallas, Texas, for several years, so it was wonderful to be able to celebrate with all of our family and friends in our hometown in Illinois. My mom and sister helped a lot with planning locally, so the day felt effortless. We had a traditional Catholic ceremony in my parents’ church, and our reception at a local banquet hall. With 150 people, it felt intimate but not overcrowded, and we all danced the night away.”
Married Life
“Day-to-day married life is pretty much the same as before. We’ve been together for five years and lived together for two years, so we basically went back to our normal routine. The only big change right now is that we are going to start looking for a house soon!”
