Design Challenge for Utterly Engaged
Time really flies…Thinking back to January when we attended The Utterly Spankin’ New Year Party hosted by Utterly Engaged at the Astor Classic Event Center. With freshly polished classic cars as the background, guests surveyed 16 elaborate tablescapes, designed by creative teams of wedding professionals to be judged by all attending.
We were flattered when our design team “One Pound of the Sky on a Tray” (Love our team name…silly but makes me smile when I say it) a collaboration of Skybox Events, The Flower Tray and Cakes by the Pound worked together on this design challenge and got honorable mention. It was just one more thing that added to our fun night with great friends.
Design Challenge Rules = Create a modern tablescape design with a twist (example: modern vintage, modern glam, modern craft, etc.). Tablescape must implement one of the following materials: paper, fabric or industrial material (plexi glass, tiles, etc.) as the focus of their tablescape. Design may include, but not limited to, flowers, branches, and other materials, as long as they’re not the main focus of the centerpiece. Centerpiece must be done within a $150 budget (this budget excludes any dinnerware, flatware, etc.).
Here was our design concept…Let us take you away to a modern Alice in Wonderland tea party. We have developed a concept of modern design using a twist of glass elements and metal abstract wiring. The re-creation of the famous tea party was accomplished using glassware with a combination of broken mirrors and glass pieces to illuminate the tablescape. The shiny reflection gave the table the modern twist that Alice’s tea party deserves. The final touch of our mini custom cakes was created to give you a sweet vision of our…Modern Tea Party for Alice in Wonderland.
