Bridal Shower on Mingle Magazine
Who doesn’t love a movie-themed bridal shower — particularly one as colorful as “The Grand Budapest Hotel”? Bringing together these elements took creativity and detailed planning, but the hard work paid off when our team was able to design something so magical for the bride-to-be. The bride’s mother suggested the theme since it is the bride’s all-time favorite movie. In Santa Ana, California, the event was held at the sophisticated and stylish venue The 1912.
This special event took our team a few months from vision to production. We curated the best vendors for this party, and it all started with detailed communications with 24 Carrots Catering. We wanted to make sure that every element of the party tied in with the theme, so we outsourced rentals and decor props to bring it to life. Found Rentals provided rustic dessert and gift tables, as well as gold-trimmed chairs with white-tufted cushions to set apart the bride’s table. We searched for hours to find the vintage keys, colorful tassels, and a template for the Mendl’s box, and sourced them from vendors. Paper Sandwich made an eye-catching invitation.
The day of the party finally approached, and we couldn’t wait to see the bride’s face once she walked into the venue. The bar was decorated with pink Mendl’s boxes in a variety of sizes by Paper Sandwich, as well as framed pictures from the movie. Guests found their names on the custom-made seating chart featuring beautiful calligraphy by Made by Eilene. As the guests spotted their table, they were greeted by a laser-cut gold wooden place card alongside a gold vintage key with a colorful tassel to take home. Every lasercut sign was designed by the talented team at Happily Ever Etched. As favors, guests were given miniature Mendl’s boxes filled with colorful macarons from Paper Street Cake.
The exquisite floral centerpieces were held in custom-made luggage-inspired vases. There was an elaborate art backdrop behind the bridal party’s table that included a gold-foiled quote from the movie. The centerpieces, art backdrop, and the chromatic balloon garland were all made by Lovesome Blossoms. At the dessert table, the delicious lemon shortbread cookies by Paper Street Cake were arranged atop several cake stands, and a two-tier raspberry-filled vanilla naked cake with white chocolate buttercream by Grace & Honey Cakes completed the sweets. The table was filled with vintage-inspired specialty rentals, such as globes, colorful books, and luggage, from Provenance Rentals.
As they arrived, guests enjoyed bacon-wrapped scallops, turmeric chicken satay, and sweet honeydew and cantaloupe with shaved prosciutto. The bar was set up with a mimosa and bellini station, as well as freshly made self-serve lemonade and tea. Before lunch began, the guests snapped candid shots in the photo booth provided by Third Eye Photo Booth. Their props and custom-designed photos made a lasting impression on everyone.
For lunch, 24 Carrots Catering served a delicious buffet-styled meal featuring a beef and pulled pork slider station with an array of unique condiments: Bermuda onions, frizzled onion hay, pickled chips, siracha aioli, and roasted garlic mayonnaise. The colored linens, vibrant serveware, glassware, and flatware were the finishing touches to the table design. What is a bridal shower without the games? Paper Sandwich made all the custom stationery templates for games, and the guests had a blast.
The details from this bridal shower pulled at our heart strings and probably those of the guests as well. We thought outside of the box with this elaborate theme, and even the quote for the gift table was something special that the bride and her mother share together. We loved how personal this bridal shower felt. Without the help of all these talented vendors, the Skybox Event Productions team would never have been able to execute this blockbuster idea.
