Nursery Decor {Oh, the Places You’ll Go!}
“Oh the places you’ll go! There is fun to be done! There are points to be scored. There are games to be won. And the magical things you can do with that ball will make you the winning-est winner of all.”
―Dr. Seuss,Oh, the Places You’ll Go!
This month I’m celebrating that my son is now sleeping in his own room. It’s truly bittersweet, I miss having him in the basket-net next to me but happy that he is sleeping a bit longer in his own room. This post is to share some details of the decor in his nursery. I didn’t have the nursery completed before AJ’s arrival, it was a work in progress for the past few months. For many of you that know me, this was not my style to have it in limbo…but like raising a baby…I decide to take it day by day. I already had the perfect theme selected…Oh, the Places You’ll Go! (same as for my baby shower). This inspiring story by the one and only, Dr. Seuss talks of all of the wonder that someone can do with their life, and you could say I have high hopes for my Son.
To expand on the Dr. Seuss theme, I decided to cut out pages from the actual book and tape them to the walls using Washi Tape. The best way to cut the books pages is using an xacto knife, run the blade along the edges slowly to remove any binding, then use a straight-edge cutter to square up the pages and ta-da! A colorful and inexpensive way to add to your theme!
Another decorative element I used was to have AJ’s Instagram pictures printed and taped them on the closet door to add some personality. To incorporate more color, I made a washi tape border around each of the photo. Having all of these cool yellow and blue tones definitely added a calming factor to the nursery, and anyone who has had the pleasure of lulling a baby to sleep knows that it’s all about being calm!
To My Dearest AJ: Wishing you many playful days and restful nights in this room. Hope you love it as much as I’ve enjoyed creating it for you. Love, Mom
