How To Add Holiday Cheer at your Wedding

How To Add Holiday Cheer at your Wedding

Ah, the holiday season is upon us! While holiday-themed celebrations take center stage, in the colder months, there are still plenty of couples who want a winter wedding around “the most wonderful time of the year!” It’s actually relatively easy to incorporate a thematic holiday touch to your winter wedding without being overly literal or cheesy (no Santa’s sleigh gift table here!).

Our first go-to for any winter celebration is an abundance of twinkle lights. At the holidays, they add just the right amount of festive flair while also being incredibly romantic. For a “wow” factor, consider having twinkle lights laid into overhead draping to give an ethereal feel to your reception space. Some of our other favorite uses of twinkle lights are strings stacked in glass jars (a great addition to centerpieces, paired with candles) or lights wrapped around trees outside the windows of your ceremony or reception space.

For a truly elegant affair, all white décor evokes the feeling of the holidays while also bringing some brightness to a time of year where the weather outside can be a little more on the gray side. White linens, florals, chairs, and lounges also give you a great neutral palette for adding an accent color.  We recommend touches of metallics like silver or gold, or perhaps a nice blue for an added pop of color.

If you love the holidays, it is okay to embrace that love and share it with your guests! For a minimal approach that is a nod to both the holidays and to love, add a piece of mistletoe to each place setting – or perhaps hang mistletoe in your photo booth backdrop for an impromptu kissing booth!

One of the most important parts of every event is the food and beverage – and winter weddings can take advantage of some delicious seasonal treats such as a s’mores bar, a build-your-own hot cocoa bar (extra whipped cream, please!) or a signature cocktail such as a eggnog and brandy sipper, a spiced cider, or a refreshing cranberry spritzer. Your guests will love seeing a new take on an old holiday favorite!

Winter weddings around the holidays can be a great time for families and friends to come together to share in a celebration, and you can use the specialness of this time of year to add a little extra cheer to your big day!
