Holiday Parties
We all know that the holidays could be stressful times, but it doesn’t have to be. There are plenty of ways to make each occasion run smoothly and help you save time. You could have a fabulous event and enjoy the fun company around you.
Here are a few tips and tricks to help you save time and keep your sanity during the Thanksgiving Holiday.
Preset the table – this can be done the night before the big feast and will save you time the day of. Decorating will also add charm to the occasion when guest arrive and see how beautiful it all looks. Presetting your table the night before will allow you time to double check that you have seating for everyone and also a place setting available on the side for that unexpected last minute guests.
Know what you’re cooking – Don’t try to find Grandma’s secret ingredient to the mashed potatoes the day of Thanksgiving! Do your research ahead of time. If you’re making all the dishes, organize a schedule so you know when to work on which dish. The last thing you want is for all your dishes to be done only to realize you forgot to cook the turkey.
Organize a pot luck – If you’re going to have guest bring a dish make sure to check with everyone what they plan to bring. This will assure that 5 people don’t all bring green bean casserole. This is an opportunity for guest to try something different. You can even make it a themed dinner and have every guest bring their favorite Cajun dish just to spice things up a bit.
Family Fun! – The turkey still needs another hour to cook but everyone is ready to eat now! This is when it’s handy to have some family fun activities. Buy a brand new football just for the occasion or a new board game like Twister! Not only will this help everyone build up an appetite but will get everyone out of the kitchen so you can focus on the task at hand.
Fast clean up – Recruit help for clean up. Assign each person a task like dishes or putting away leftovers. Make sure the dishwasher is already empty before you start cooking this way you can fill it has you cook and clean up. Before you sit down to eat, fill the sink with hot soapy water and fill it with dirty pots and pans. This way after you’re done eating they just have to be scrubbed one and rinsed off. If you know you’re going to have a lot of extra food, invest in cute to go boxes for your guests.
Skybox wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving!
